Son Heung-min's special ovation, Erik Lamela's landmark and empty seats - Spurs moments missed

A tribute to Goran Bunjevcevic

Spurs paid tribute to former defender Goran Bunjevcevic at half-time in the game against Red Star Belgrade.

Joining the Lilywhites in 2001 from the Serbian side, the player spent five years in north London before finishing his career with Dutch side ADO Den Haag.

Bunjevcevic tragically lost his life last year at the age of 45 after suffering an aneurysm and the club felt it was the perfect opportunity to remember the player with two of his former clubs going head-to-head.

It was a fitting tribute to the player and one his family will never forget.

Lamela's milestone

Erik Lamela was back in the Spurs starting XI on Tuesday evening after a decent performance off the bench at the weekend.

The Argentine has enjoyed a good start to the season and has contributed with some important goals and assists so far.

Well, his place in the team was in fact his 200th game in all competitions since his move to the club from Roma back in 2013.

He celebrated it in the perfect way by teeing up Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in the first half, before then getting his name on the scoresheet with a tidy finish shortly after the restart.

Now looking at the top of his game after fitness problems in recent seasons, it really is a shame that injury has robbed him of so many appearances as the milestone could have come a lot sooner.

Former players acknowledged

Two familiar faces were at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as part of BT Sport's coverage.

Jermaine Jenas and Peter Crouch both played a key role in the club's famous Champions League run in  the 2010/11 season and they were behind the BT Sport desk to analyse the game.

Both were pitchside before proceedings got underway and they made an exit 10 minutes before kick-off to return inside.

The duo walked past the North Stand and both players received a fantastic round of applause from the supporters as they stood up to acknowledge their former stars.

Empty seats

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been pretty much full to capacity for all of Spurs' games since returning to N17 in April.

It was far from that for the European clash against Red Star as there were pockets of vacant seats in the South Stand and East Stand throughout the victory.

No travelling supporters were allowed to attend the match as a punishment for racist chanting and that meant the club had extra seats to fill.

However, no tickets could be put on general sale just in case the away fans tried to purchase them.

That didn't seem to bother Red Star supporters as a large number of them obtained tickets and they all gathered in the upper tier of the North Stand.

Only 51,743 fans attended the game but it should be back to normal when Sheffield United visit at the start of November.

Son's special ovation

Son really looked in the mood for the game inside the opening couple of minutes in N17 as he produced an array of flicks and tricks.

In fact, it only took him 16 minutes to get on the scoresheet as he finished off some brilliant play by Lamela to find the top corner with a sublime effort.

The 27-year-old's second came on the stroke of half-time as finished low beyond Milan Borjan after a good ball by Tanguy Ndombele, but he wouldn't have time to complete his hat-trick as he was substituted off on 68 minutes.

The new laws stipulate that players have to leave the play at the nearest touchline and that meant Son had to walk around the South Sound to get back to the Spurs bench.

The fans absolutely loved that as they shook hands with him and some even tried to get a photo with the South Korean ace as he made his way back towards the tunnel.

He really did deserve the ovation from the crowd after another very good performance.
