Son Heung-min red card overturned following Tottenham forward's dismissal against Everton

Son Heung-min will be available for Tottenham Hotspur's next three Premier League matches after an independent Regulatory Commission upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal.

The forward was sent off for serious foul play following a tackle on Andre Gomes during the Premier League fixture against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Son was initially shown a yellow card by referee Martin Atkinson who then upgraded to a dismissal when the extent of Gomes' injury became clear.

The Portuguese midfielder left the field of play on a stretcher against Tottenham before undergoing successful surgery on a fracture dislocation in his right ankle the following day.

Everton have yet to put a timescale on the 26-year-old's recovery but he is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Manager Marco Silva said: "Andre will have all the support he needs. I am 100% sure he will become stronger as a football player and a man.

"He is a fantastic man and a fantastic professional. Our players are sad but the spirit we showed was a good answer."
