Son Heung-min makes big claim about historic first goal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Son Heung-min will go down in the history books after netting the very first goal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs finally returned back to N17 on Wednesday evening after almost two years away following the final game at White Hart Lane against Manchester United in May 2017.

It proved to be a truly memorable occasion and Mauricio Pochettino's side got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace courtesy of goals from Son and Christian Eriksen.

The South Korean's first goal for the Lilywhites actually came against the same opponents back in September 2015 and he recently said that it was his favourite goal in a Spurs shirt.

Speaking after the first game at the club's new stunning home, he told the club's official website: "It feels amazing. I’m very proud to play in this shirt.

"I still remember when I scored my first Premier League goal at White Hart Lane, it was against Crystal Palace and now I score not such a beautiful goal but I think the most important goal for me.

"I feel proud of my team-mates, staff, fans and I just want to say thank-you for the amazing support and giving me the opportunity to play in this unbelievable stadium. It makes me happy. I’m the happiest guy in the world."

So, was the first goal at the 62,062-seater stadium now his favourite since making the move four years ago?

"Probably not! Of course, it’s a very special goal, but I think since I joined Tottenham this is even more special because... no, I can’t say, both goals mean such a lot," he added.

"I can’t choose one, it’s very difficult!"

Tottenham fans send the same message to Toby Alderweireld following first win in new stadium
