Son Heung-min forced to quarantine as four South Korea teammates test positive for Covid-19

Tottenham winger Son Heung-min has been forced to self-isolate while on international duty as he awaits the results of a coronavirus test.

His South Korea side are currently suffering an outbreak of the disease within their ranks, with four other players and an unidentified member of staff already testing positive according to the Korea Herald .

The team are staying in Austria ahead of Saturday's scheduled friendly with Mexico before another match against Qatar on Tuesday.

The Korea Football Association (KFA) has said that the five who have tested positive are showing no symptoms, and that the status of Saturday's game depends on further testing to take place on the day.

The players to return positive test results have been named as goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo, midfield pair Kwon Chang-hoon and Hwang In-beom, and forward Lee Dong-jun.

Spurs fans will be crossing everything in the hope that Son does not contract the disease given his scintillating form for the club this season.

The 28-year-old has registered eight goals in as many Premier League appearances and is a vital member of the North London club's attacking trident, but would likely be forced to miss next weekend's crunch clash with Manchester City if he tests positive on Saturday.

Spurs currently occupy second place in the league table after winning five of their opening eight matches.

Son's partnership with England skipper Harry Kane up top for Jose Mourinho 's side has been extremely productive, with the pair providing 25 goal contributions between them.

Kane told the club website earlier this week that his strong relationship with Son has influenced their impressive form this season.

"Year by year, the more you play with someone the more you get to know someone, [it's about] just understanding your games a little bit better," he said.

"I think we've had a great relationship over the years, but this season has just clicked a little bit more and yeah, I think [it's down to] probably both just being a bit more clinical in the final third whether it's the final pass or the final finish."
