Son faces retrial over murder of mum Louise Tiffney under double jeopardy laws

A man faces a retrial over the murder of his mother.

Sean Flynn was acquitted of murdering Louise Tiffney after a not proven verdict in 2005.

Flynn, 36, had denied the charge.

Prosecutors were yesterday given permission to re-indict the case against him.

They want a retrial under double jeopardy laws, which mean someone can be tried again on the same charges.

Louise, 43, was last seen at her home in Edinburgh’s Dean Village in 2002.

In April 2017, her remains were discovered near Longniddry, East Lothian.
