Son desperate to find Glaswegian dad he's never met after mum's one night stand at Grand National

A man searching for his Glaswegian dad says having his own kids has made it ‘hit home’ how much he’s missed out on.

Michael Lee, 35, grew up with mum Josie Coak in Liverpool and has never known who his dad is.

As a teenager, he found out that he had been conceived during a one-night stand with a man from Glasgow.

Josie, 71, met the man when she was 35, while he was visiting Liverpool for the Grand National at Aintree on April 9, 1984.

The man, she believes may be called Graham or Gordon, was staying at the Adelphi Hotel in the town with a male friend for a few days.

Josie met him at the popular Grafton Rooms dance hall where they spent the night dancing and chatting.

Three-months after their meeting, Josie realised that she was pregnant and had no means of contacting the father.

Michael was born in December 1984 and is yet to meet his dad.

An article trying to trace him was published by the Daily Record back in 2016 but no one with information on his whereabouts came forward.

Michael is now continuing his search by adding his DNA to an ancestry database in the hope of tracing his dad or any possible relatives.

He told Glasgow Live : “Since I found out about my dad, it’s been a search for him.  A lot of people around the world are going through the same thing.

“It really did start to hit home when I had my sons Reggie, 3 and Stanley, 7 and when I met my step-son Charlie, 20. My dad and I are missing out on something big. Your eyes start to open when you have your kids.

“I just want a bit of closure more than anything. I don't want anything from him. I’m not angry or upset, it’s just a bit of closure on my side.

“I could be the spit of my dad and I could have other brothers and sisters, that’s what I think about.”
