Son begs 'stop being selfish' as nine Leeds petrol stations run out before school run

A Leeds man has begged people to stop being selfish after going to around nine petrol stations for fuel.

Adam Jalil was out of fuel on Monday night and went to various stations before finding one which actually had fuel for his car.

Because of the £30 limit, he was restricted on how much he could fill up his car, which his mum uses to do the school run everyday.

After his experience during the fuel crisis, he has urged people to stop being selfish as there are people who desperately need fuel such as carers and people working in the NHS.

He said: “It was rammed.

"It was busy when I went to Shell (in Kirkstall Road) that was the only one I managed to get in but there was a 30-minute queue. It was very busy. My fuel was absolutely finished, my mum does the school run every morning.

“I went to about eight or nine petrol stations none of them had fuel. I didn’t know what I was going to do.

“It’s quite hard - my petrol runs out quite quick, I don’t know how long that £30 will last.

“There are more people in need of petrol. People should stop being selfish and stop filling up cans up, it's very selfish.”
