Son admits trying to kill his parents at their home in Yatton

A man has admitted trying to kill his parents at their home.

James Richardson appeared at Bristol Crown Court via video link today (November 17, 2021)

The 34-year-old, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of George and Janet Richardson at their home in private cul-de-sac Henley Lodge, Yatton, on April 10.

He also admitted assaulting emergency worker PC Craig Rowley on April 11.

Richardson denied breaching a restraining order, imposed by Bristol magistrates on July 7, 2020, and that denial was accepted by the prosecution.

Judge Julian Lambert was told two psychiatrists are available for an estimated two-hour sentencing hearing at the court on Monday. (November 22, 2021)

He remanded Richardson into psychiatric hospital care in the meantime.

The judge told the court: "The court will need to consider a Mental Health Act disposal.

"There is quite a wide legal and medical panorama to cover."
