Lese majeste prisoner Somyot Prueksakasemsuk is expected to be released at the end of this month after seven years in jail.
On Feb 26, he wrote a letter to his daughter that he was looking forward to meeting her upon his release.
Somyot has been detained since April 30, 2011.
The former editor of the Voice of Taksin magazine was accused of violating Section 112 of the Criminal Code, also known as the lese majeste law, by publishing two articles in 2010 that were deemed insulting to the royal family. He was not the writer of the articles.
The Criminal Court in January 2013 sentenced Somyot to 10 years in prison -- five years each for two charges. The Supreme Court on Feb 23 last year reduced the penalties to six years in total.
However, he was convicted of defamation against former deputy secretary-general of the Council for National Security Gen Saprang Kanlayanamitr which resulted in another one-year jail term.
The Friends of Somyot group on Facebook posted the group is counting down for the release of Somyot.
