Something very dangerous is happening in this photo of South Dublin shore

The Coast Guard had to rush to a south Dublin beach on Sunday after a person got stranded after the tide suddenly came in.

A scary picture shows a little dot in the ocean where the person stuck hundreds of metres away from the safety of the shoreline.

The Dun Laoghaire Coast Guard responded to the scene while an RNLI crew waded through the water on foot due to it being too shallow for a boat.

The Dublin Fire Brigade and National Ambulance also attended the scene.

The coast guard said: "Dun Laoghaire Coast Guard we’re tasked to reports of a person cut off by the tide on Sandymount strand. On arrival the casualty location was identified.

"Dublin Fire Brigade were also at scene with multiple rescue units. R116 was tasked due to the location of the casualty along with RNLI Dun Laoghaire Lifeboat Station inshore lifeboat.

"A crew from the RNLI inshore Lifeboat made there way by foot due to the tidal depths, with R116 keeping eyes on from above and brought the casualty back to their boat.

"The casualty was transported by sea to the RNLI station and as a precaution, paramedics from the National Ambulance Service provided medical treatment.

"Well done to all. Crews stood down."
