'Something needs to be done' Stapleton Road resident reacts to bloody attack

A Stapleton Road resident believes police must do more to prevent violence on the road following a disturbance in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The woman, who did not want to be named, has lived on the road since she was born and said she loves living there.

But despite acknowledging the road has improved over the years, she said a lot more needs to be done.

"Police are not doing enough from what I can see," she told Bristol Live.

"There are gangs who are not from around here who hang around and it's clear that they're up to no good.

"I live on Stapleton Road and was born-and-bred here, and I've seen the road change a lot over the years.

"It's come a long way but there's still a way to go. To be fair I know the police are under pressure but something needs to be done."

The most recent incident on Stapleton Road took place at around 2am on Saturday, May 18, when a 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with hand and chest injuries following a disturbance.

A police spokesperson told Bristol Live enquiries into the incident were ongoing.

They looked to assure the nearby community police patrols would be conducted in the area to provide reassurance and information.
