'Something is wrong with the Kings': Agent blasts team after Papagiannis' release

SACRAMENTO, Calif. _ Pulling no punches, Georgios Papagiannis' agent quickly slammed the Kings' decision to waive the 20-year-old center on Thursday, amid a flurry of NBA trade-deadline activity.

Marios Olympios told Greek sports radio station Sport FM that dropping Papagiannis was a "mistake," and that he "never got a real chance" with the team, EuroHoops reported Friday. Olympios suggested that multiple trips back and forth between Sacramento and the Kings' G League affiliate in Reno was a detriment, but that Papagiannis succeeded in spite of it.

But Olympios wasn't done roasting the Kings. He called it unfortunate that Papagiannis was drafted by Sacramento in the first place.

"Georgios ended up in a very disorganized franchise and I think that everyone in the NBA is shocked by the decision made by the Kings," Olympios said. "It's one more proof that something is wrong with the Kings."

A first-round pick acquired by the Kings in 2016 draft, Papagiannis couldn't crack the rotation. He averaged 2.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 7.4 minutes over 16 games played in his sophomore season.

"I wish him nothing but the best moving forward but we're trying to focus on where we're going to be in a year," Kings general manager Vlade Divac said.

Olympios told Sport FM that they will consider options for Papagiannis both abroad and in the U.S. Papagiannis and Olympios are both Greek.
