Somerset shooting: Charlie Broadway hands himself in after one person shot dead

A suspected gunman who went on the run after a shooting which left one person dead and another injured has handed himself in, police say.

Charlie Broadway, 23, is being held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after two men were shot at the Chubbards Cross caravan park, near Ilton, north of Ilminster, Somerset, shortly before 8pm on Thursday.

A man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene and a second man, in his 20s, was treated for "non life-threatening injuries".

Broadway handed himself in at a custody centre in Somerset around 3pm.

Avon and Somerset police say they are now looking to speak to John Broadway, 37, and Donna Broadway, 26, who "have yet to come forward".

Police later said Donna Broadway is Charlie Broadway's wife and John Broadway was his elder brother.

Neither are considered to pose a risk.

Detective Superintendent Andy Bevan said: "I would like to thank each and every member of the public who have assisted us with this investigation.

"I would also like to extend my thanks to the media who publicised our appeal far and wide."

Police are yet to recover the firearm used during the shooting.
