Somerset manufacture, SWP Concrete Solutions, invests in new HQ

SWP Concrete Solutions has invested in a new, purpose-built headquarters.

The Somerset company announced its intentions after securing a £5.3m finance package from HSBC, which is estimated to double its sales over the next 12 months.

SWP Concrete Solutions, established in 2011 by directors Jason Barrow and Steve Stone in a small yard in Bridgwater, has used the HSBC UK funding to move out of the previously rented sites and merge the business to one permanent location. The new site has created 30 new jobs in the local area, more than doubling the now 48-strong workforce.

The business manufactures, supplies and delivers a wide range of precast concrete products across the UK for the civil engineering, structures and agricultural markets. Products include concrete barriers on highways, concrete panels and other products for the civil engineering market.

Mr Barrow said: “It’s been incredible to see the SWP Concrete Solutions grow from a fledgling business into what it is today. From Steve and I pouring two cubic metres of concrete a week in a small backyard, to now working with circa 60 cubic metres a day and moving into our new company headquarters.

"The new site will enable us to grow the business and expand even further. We’re grateful for HSBC UK’s support in understanding our business needs and helping us through the process, particularly our relationship manager Kevin Goodall.”

David Butler, area director at HSBC UK, commented: “It’s fantastic to see SWP Concrete Solutions becoming one of the leading suppliers of precast concrete in the UK and creating so many jobs in the local area. We look forward to continuing to see the business grow positively in the new site.”

This deal was introduced through the Broker Scheme by Aled Morris at Blaise Commercial Finance.
