Somersaults and Dreams by Cate Shearwater - review

Cate Shearwater, Somersaults and Dreams: Making the Grade

This book is very fascinating and gives us an insight into a gymnast's very overwhelming life! The author gave each individual character their own personality which in the story bought them closer together. For example, Ellie (the main character) had mixed emotions throughout this story, and she was very determined when it came to gymnastics. Her two best friends (Nancy and tam) were very fun and kind, but Nancy always had a little doubt in herself when she sprung across the floor, even thought she really enjoyed gym. Tam on the other hand, was on the boys junior squad.

Scarlett was another gymnast who lived with all the junior girls like Ellie and Nancy, Scarlett was very bitter and hated people who were better than her. As Ellie's auntie is one of the worlds best gymnasts, she thought Ellie only got in because of her. When it came to the team championships, Ellie wanted to prove her wrong…

After I started reading, I couldn't stop, and I couldn't believe I'd finished it so quickly! I really think this book is great for people my age, and especially if you love gymnastics!
