Someone sprinkled loads of drawing pins all over a Bridgend cycle track

A mum-of-two was left shocked after discovering "hundreds" of drawing pins all over a cycling track.

Mary John was walking along the popular path in Blackmill, Bridgend, with her dad and two young daughters when she spotted the pins.

The cycle track from Brynmenyn up to Blackmill is regularly used by cyclists, runners and dog walkers - and Mary is worried that the sharp tacks could end up hurting someone.

The 33-year-old, who lives in Bridgend , said that every few metres she spotted more pins.

"As we were walking along the track I noticed some pins on the floor so I moved them out of the way, as I carried on walking just metres away there was more scattered again," she added.

She added: "Luckily, my girls were in a pram but normally they like to run around. What if a child was running and fell over, they could really hurt themselves if they fell onto the pins.

"Dogs could also walk on them, it could really cause some damage. When I got home I also noticed that pins were also on the wheels of the pram as well as on the bottom of my shoes.

"I didn't realise this until I got home, I couldn't even tell you how many I found but there were hundreds of them on the track."

The rights you didn't know cyclists have

Before finding the pins, Mary always thought that the track was a safe place to take the kids.

She said: "I couldn't believe it, I have been back to the track since on my own, you can't really relax now.

"My friend has said that she's not going to take her kids back there now as she doesn't feel like it is a safe place.

"I just want to raise awareness of this so people can be more vigilant when they go there.

"It's putting people off from using it," she added.
