If the first spring training practices are any indication, the Houston Astros should probably get ready for some brutal treatment across big-league ballparks this season.
It’s already happening at their own spring training facility in West Palm Beach, Fla.
The Houston Astros organization was punished this offseason for cheating tactics that dated back to the 2017 World Series season. That cheating, of course, included whacking a trash can to signify off-speed pitches. So, when notable Astros cheaters Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa took their first rounds of batting practice on Monday, one fan came prepared to troll the players.
This fan brought a trash can to the facility and banged something against it before taking off running. It was all caught on video.
Something tells me that this won’t be the only time the Astros encounter similar, trash-can-aided heckling.
Altuve was also called a “cheater” as he signed autographs on Monday.
It’s going to be a long season in Houston.
