Someone complained about noise at Liverpool Airport 1,181 times in one day

One angry resident from Warrington complained about noise at Liverpool John Lennon Airport 1,181 times in one day, new reports show.

It means they contacted the airport at a rate of almost once a minute on August 30 this year, the day the colossal number of complaints were made.

And they would have been contacting the airport even more regularly if they took any time to sleep during that 24 hour period.

The individual, whose identity is unknown, complained about disruption from noise at the airport 10,436 times in the three month period between July and September this year.

They are believed to be the same person who has accounted for a massive chunk of the airport's noise complaints.

The airport's annual noise report from last year also shows that more than 99% of the complaints made to the airport about noise were from the person referred to in some reports as "the Warrington individual".

The report says: "During 2018, 12,387 of the 12,479 complaints were made by one individual.

"Generally the number of complaints increase during the summer when the there are more aircraft movements but this is not always the case as in 2016 where other factors can have a bearing on the number of noise complaints and where they originate from that are received by the Airport."

An airport spokesman said staff have made multiple attempts to contact the person but that they have chosen not to engage with them.

The spokesman said: "The Airport records all noise complaints and then shares them with the independent airport noise monitoring sub-committee.

"The individual concerned who lives approximately 10 miles from the Airport in Warrington , has continued to make repeated noise complaints to the Airport, totalling in excess of 26,000 complaints over a 9 month period – the equivalent of almost 100 complaints every single day.

"To put this into perspective, the Airport received less than 100 complaints from other members of the public during the same period.

"Many of these complaints relate to aircraft not even operating to or from Liverpool Airport and whilst staff from the Airport’s Environment department have previously visited this individual to discuss these complaints, this individual continues to choose not to engage with airport colleagues.”

The total number of complaints from 'the Warrington individual" between July and September this year totalled 10,431.
