Somehow, five people survived this horrific BMW smash in Manchester city centre

This is the horrific aftermath of a BMW crash in Manchester city centre which five people survived.

Images show the smashed up M3 on its crumpled roof surrounded by firefighters.

Debris from the car is scattered across the road.

A second image shows the vehicle after it had been flipped back over.

The windscreen is smashed, the front and sides of the car unrecognisable.

Police were called to Trinity Way just after 6am on Saturday (January 4).

The BMW is understood to have lost control before smashing into an advertising screen and landing on its roof.

One of the people inside was thrown from the vehicle by the impact of the collision.

Incredibly, they survived.

A spokesman for GMP said that five people had been travelling in the car at the time of the crash.

The 32-year-old driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.

He was taken to hospital.

A 31-year-old and a 33-year-old man were also taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Two other men were treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Trinity Way was closed for four hours while enquiries were carried out.

No arrests have  been made and police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

PC Steve Smith from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Two men have been left with serious injuries as a result of this collision.

"We wish them well as they undergo treatment.

"If you witnessed the vehicle prior to the collision please get in touch.

"We are also asking for anyone who has dashcam footage or CCTV footage around this area which may have captured the collision, or vehicle beforehand, to come forward."
