Some RTE Reeling in the Years viewers fuming as huge moment in 2011 left out

The omission of Ireland's Eurovision entries Jedward in the latest episode of Reeling in the Years has left many viewers unhappy.

The RTE series aired its second episode of the new season on Sunday night with 2011 taking centre stage.

In the episode, viewers saw the demise of Brian Cowen and Fianna Fail, Enda Kenny begin his time as Taoiseach, Dublin win their first All-Ireland of the 21st century and much more.

But one thing that wasn't included was Jedward's impressive performance at the Eurovision that year.

John and Edward's entry with 'Lipstick' proved a huge hit and saw them finish eight overall - one of Ireland's most impressive performances in years.

But it wasn't enough for the RTE producers, leaving many fans of the pair unhappy.

Rebecca Bourke said on Twitter: "Jedward getting one of the best results the past decade for Ireland in the Eurovision in 2011 and it didn’t even get a mention on Reeling in the years?!"

Maritna added: "Great show but disappointing that you didn't show Jedward! They represented Eurovision that year and met @BarackObama! Very unfair how you left them out of history."

Lisa Hafey said: "So Jedward at Eurovision didn’t even rate a mention, despite bringing the country together with their 8th place result? Heads should roll on this compilation!"

While Twitter user Oisin said: "The fact Jedward at Eurovision wasn't even show in Reeling In The Years... Irish Eurovision fans really can have nothing."

The pair themselves did not make any comment on the snub but did like a tweet highlighting their absence from the compilation.

RTE's Reeling in the Years returns next Sunday night on RTE One at 8:30pm.
