Two out of five rooms at North Ainslie Primary School found to have high levels of lead paint dust have been reopened following environmental cleaning.
A letter from principal Tania Collis to parents said two areas, a staff office and a breakout teaching space known as the sensory room had test results from a licenced assessor that showed lead levels were below the threshold and were safe to occupy.
"The Building Service Officer's suite (which includes the storeroom and toilet), as well as the art storeroom, remain closed while further assessment occurs," the letter said.
"Further lead paint assessment will be conducted across the school during the upcoming school holidays.
"The safety of our students, staff and the community remains our top priority."
The school conducted testing after the Education Directorate sent out communication to all schools regarding hazardous materials management.
The art store room, which had been recently sanded, was found to have the highest levels of lead contamination in the school at 117 times the acceptable threshold.
Two other ACT public schools have recently discovered lead dust contamination.
Eleven classrooms were closed at Yarralumla Primary School after lead painted windows were replaced in the July school holidays.
Lead contamination was also found during work on the roof of the school hall at Alfred Deakin High School.
