Some restrictions lifted at tips and recycling centres across Salford

Visitors can take a wider range of materials to tips and recycling centres across Salford from this weekend.

From Saturday, May 16, residents can take bagged general waste including small bulky items that cannot fit into a bin.

Wood, garden waste (excluding soil) and cardboard will also be accepted.

Residents cannot take electricals, mattresses, large bulky items of furniture, white goods or rubble.

They are being told to bring proof of their address.

No transit type vans or vehicles with trailers are allowed at the tips and recycling centres.

There will be a traffic control system in place, according to the council.

On Saturday, May 16, only cars with number plates ending with even numbers will be allowed onto the site.

Working on a four-week rota, the system will help staff to limit the amount of traffic visiting and limit the potential for the virus to spread.

Additional social distancing measures will be in place to ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff.
