‘Some people are just miserable inside’: Woman tries to take picture at monster truck show. Then a man intervenes

Some people just want to destroy others’ joy. That’s what one woman learned after a disheartening experience at Monster Jam.

In a viral video, Sophie Mudd (@sophiermudd) shows herself posing to take a photo in the stands of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, during the monster truck show. As she stands in front of the glass-topped railing, a man sitting down in front of her phone lifts his arm in a raised fist to block her photo. He moves his arm to continue blocking her as she tries to maneuver past it to be seen in her picture.

She writes in an on-screen caption, “This guy was so mean :( he kept putting his arm here on purpose so I couldn’t take a pic and said something awful to me after.” In the video’s description, she writes, “I was so sad about this lol.”

What happened at this Monster Jam?

Viewers in the comments section felt the man at Monster Jam was seeking company for his misery. Several also suggested he has little luck with ladies.

“Weird behavior .. he’s been rejected by every woman his entire life including his mother,” one viewer said.

“I just see a weak and miserable soul,” user Ness said.

Armando Farfando wrote, “You know immediately that he doesn’t have any luck with women and still lives with his mom.”

What should I do if this happens to me?

If this happens to you, Google Gemini first suggests prioritizing your safety. Get to a safe place before addressing the issue if the interaction seems threatening.

Next, calmly ask them to stop blocking your photo. Explain that you are legally allowed to take photos of anything in plain view in public spaces.

If you decide to take further action, consider documenting the person blocking your photo if it is safe to do so. If the person continues to block your phone and becomes threatening, you may want to contact the police.

The Mary Sue contacted Mudd via TikTok comment and direct message. It contacted SoFi Stadium via press email.
