Some Ohio State football newcomers have been assigned numbers

As we get closer to the fall, more and more newcomers for the 2019 football season will begin to get things in order. One thing that has to be crossed off the list is getting those coveted jersey numbers that could identify them for the rest of their football career.

Credit to Andrew Lind of Buckeye Sports Bulletin for uncovering this update on the roster, but there are several new Ohio State players that now do indeed have their jersey numbers according to the rosters online.

There will be more and more players be assigned as they arrive on campus and compete, but for the time being, here’s the list of numbers for the following players.

Just some quick notes:

  • Gunnar Hoak has a good shot at winning the backup role behind Justin Fields. He transferred from Kentucky and will keep the same number he wore in Lexington.
  • Jameson Williams is a speed burner at the receiver position and could contribute this fall if he learns the playbook. He’ll wear No. 6.
  • Look for transfer Jonah Jackson to find a starting spot on the offensive line. He is a graduate transfer from Rutgers and will also get to keep his same number worn in Piscataway.
