Some of the numbers on the Fabian Moreau breakout are interesting

Washington Redskins cornerback Fabian Moreau had himself a breakout game last weekend during a win.

So much so, Redskins coaches aren’t shying away from letting him get a shot at the starting role on the outside.

But some of the numbers that provide context are downright incredible. Here are a few to know from a blurb over at Pro Football Focus courtesy of Ben Cooper:

“The same player who had allowed 25 catches on 28 targets for more than 300 yards this season had a career performance Sunday. On eight targets, Moreau surrendered five completions and came away with two interceptions — the first requiring him to go stride for stride with Marvin Hall, and the second tasking him to jump a short route.”

That Moreau allowed 25 catches on 28 targets to this point is staggering. Yet it’s also incredible to think the coaching staff changed his role and it has created these sorts of meaningful results already.

Granted, last week could end up being an anomaly for Moreau. But the hope in Washington is they stumbled upon something here and he’ll get the rest of the season to prove it wasn’t.

A regression in the interceptions department is as obvious as it gets, but if everything else can even out, both the Redskins and Moreau would get a big win.
