Some of the best Edinburgh words from your childhood that you hardly use now

Edinburgh dialect is well known around Scotland, from our interesting words to some more classic phrases.

However, there are a lot of Scottish and Edinburgh words that you may have forgotten about.

Growing up in the capital, most bairns also had their own language, using different words to describe the tales of their daily lives.

From getting dinghied to claiming a ‘bagsy’ on something, the range of phrases were very descriptive and imaginative.

The terms dominated the school playground, and would have sounded pretty hilarious to anyone who didn't know what they meant.

Sadly, most of us grew out of the words when we eventually got older. So, to remind you of the good old school days, here is a list of some of the best Edinburgh words you would have used as a kid.
