Some might say they're not worth the money... Original, handwritten Oasis lyrics penned by Noel Gallagher to be auctioned off

Some might say they're not worth the money.

But they are the gold dust of any rock 'n' roll auction - handwritten lyrics.

Scrawled on a sheet of an exercise book it was to become an Oasis classic... Champagne Supernova.

The words were penned by Noel Gallagher for the song that would feature on the band's (What's The Story) Morning Glory album of 1995.

Now the scrap of paper is to go under the hammer, along with handwritten lyrics by Noel for three other of his songs - Half The World Away - used as the theme tune to the BBC sitcom, The Royle Family - and two songs from Definitely Maybe album, Digsy's Dinner and Columbia.

A five-song set list written is also up for sale.

They will be sold by Omega Auctions of Warrington on Tuesday (May 21).

Auctioneer Paul Fairweather said: "The lyrics are to be sold individually by song and are estimated by us at £1,500 to £2,500 each. The set list is estimated at £400 to £600.

"They are all instantly recognisable in Noel's 'block capital' handwriting style and were likely used during tour/recording rehearsals as prompts.

"We seeing a rapidly growing market for Manchester related memorabilia, likely fuelled by those who 'were there' now maturing into an age where they have a disposable income to spend on band/music that was so important to them in their youth.

"We would not be surprised to see to the estimates for these items beaten. They have come from a huge Oasis collector that has many more. He purchased them from various sources including the likes of Bonhams/Christies, and people closely linked to Noel."

"The fantastic results for the Manchester collection of  Liz and Paul Horsfall of memorabilia from early Factory events at our auction in November are testament to the strength of the market."
