Some Manchester United fans left Old Trafford at half-time vs Liverpool but thousands stay to show support

Manchester United fans left in their droves during the humiliating defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Sky Sports captured fans departing the stadium at half-time with the away side 4-0 up.

United supporters had seen Naby Keita score minutes into the game and Diogo Jota double Liverpool’s lead soon after.

Mohamed Salah added two more to cap off the perfect opening 45 minutes for Liverpool and home fans made their voices heard by booing their team off the pitch, with some deciding to leave before the second half.

Things got worse for United after the break when Paul Pogba’s introduction at half-time lasted 15 minutes, the midfielder was shown a straight red after VAR changed the decision from a yellow card.

By then Liverpool had added a fifth, Salah completed his hat-trick, and more fans continued the Old Trafford exodus before the second-half had reached its midway point.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal disallowed for offside, VAR once again getting involved, to rule out a consolation goal for United.

But while some fans made an early exit, the vast majority stayed in the stadium and continued to support the team until the end. That support was appreciated by captain Harry Maguire, who said after the match: "Apologies to the fans, that is not good enough. You stuck with us, singing at the end and we appreciate that."
