Some Dubliners mystified as strange UFO-like lights take over capital's skies on Saturday - here's why

Some Dubliners were left in a state of confusion on Saturday night, as unidentifiable moving beams were seen in the sky over the capital.

The lights, which were seen in areas such as Sutton, Sandymount, and Rathmines, mystified those who saw them.

The bewildered Dubliners took to social media to try and find a solution, with one Twitter user posting a video with the caption: "Does anyone know what the flashing light is in the sky in Dublin tonight? Was thinking it might be a heli pad on a hospital or something."

Another replied to her with a similar video of the beams, saying: "We can see from Sutton. Wtf?"

While there was plenty of confusion over what it was, with some speculating it was a recently opened nightclub, or perhaps even a UFO. The truth, however, is much less menacing.

A spokeswoman for Guinness Storehouse confirmed to Dublin Live that the beams emanated from the Guinness HQ, saying it was part of a 'light-show' experience.

Not quite the Independence Day experience some were expecting!
