Some Crystal Palace fans are saying the same thing as striker puts pen to paper on new deal

Crystal Palace fans are hoping for big things from young striker James Daly after the teenager put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.

The 19-year-old has confirmed that he has signed a new deal with the Eagles , having been offered fresh terms by the club this summer.

It extends the striker's stay with Palace to a sixth season, having joined the club in 2014, after being turned down by the Eagles' arch-rivals Brighton following a trial a few years before.

And in recent years, Daly has enjoyed a rapid rise at Palace, scoring goals for the Eagles' U18 side as a 16-year-old, before stepping up from the U18s side to help the U23 development team win the southern division title in 2017/18, with nine goals in 13 appearances, including a hat-trick against Queens Park Rangers.

His impressive form led to him being named the club's scholar of the year at the end of a season when he was also named on the bench for the first team for a Premier League clash with Bournemouth in April 2018.

He has since trained with the first team on a regular basis, having been handed a one-year professional deal last summer, with Daly featuring in a number of friendly matches for Palace.

Daly also spent time last season on loan at Kingstonian in the Bostik League Premier Division, helping him gain more experience of senior football.

And now, he has put pen to paper on a new deal with Palace, keeping him at the club beyond his teenage years, with Daly sending a message to the fans after signing the contract.

Writing on social networking website Twitter, he said: "Pleased to have signed a new deal. Ready to go."

And Daly has been congratulated on his new contract by former Palace striker Mark Bright and fans alike, with some supporters predicting big things for the 19-year-old, as can be seen by the reaction to his post, below.
