Some Awesome New Supervillain And Basketball Skins Just Leaked For 'Fortnite: Battle Royale'

Fortnite got a huge update this morning, and not everything contained inside was right there on the surface. We also got a heap of new cosmetic items that should be making their way to the shop over the coming weeks, and Epic continues to bring an excellent mic of skins both in and outside of the Season 4 theme. There’s two in there that feel like they might be connected to a limited time mode, as well.

The skins appear to have been first mined by DieBuddies, some dataminers that often get to this stuff first. Thanks to Fortnite Intel for collation:

Let’s take a look:

Fortnite

Flytrap/Ventura: Ventura is clearly the female version of the Venturion skin, one of the more explicitly superhero-themed skins that have made their way into the game this Season. Flytrap, on the other hand, feels like our first true supervillain skin after Omega, and it feels a little like a male version of Poison Ivy.

Fortnite

Scoundrel/Rapscallion: Whoo boy, are these awesome. Both of these are traditional, cartoon-style burglars and I couldn’t be more excited to grab them. Everything feels on point, from the little villainous mustache to the costume masks. I don’t know if we’re calling these supervillains, per se, but they’re great nonetheless.

Fortnite

Jumpshot/Triple Threat: Not hard to figure out what’s going on here. The NBA finals are nearly upon us, and Fortnite is wildly popular among professional athletes. Call this a soft tie-in, like the general idea of running a superhero theme alongside Avengers: Infinity War. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a licensed limited time mode along the lines of Infinity Gauntlet, though. I have to imagine the NBA is keenly aware of how popular this game is, and it’s not hard to imagine some sort of basketball-style mode where teams compete to get an object into a hoop of some kind, a little like Destiny’s Rift mode.

Fortnite: Battle Royale

Tendril/Slam Dunk: Pretty straightforward, here. They’re the pickaxes for flytrap and the basketball skins, respectively, and I particularly like the plant theme developing with Flytrap. All this basketball stuff will be flying off the shelves.

Fortnite: Battle Royale

Nite Owl/Starry Night: These look like a pickaxe and back bling to go with the burglar skins, for me. I particularly like the back bling, compelting the fantasy of making your way through 100 enemies on your way to getting your loot out of a heist.

Fortnite: Battle Royale

Hang Time/Venus Flyer: Basketball and Flytrap again. I’m not wild about the Venus Flyer, though it might have a neat animation to make it a little more palatable. Again, this basketball stuff is going to make Epic a mint when the finals are running.

Fortnite: Battle Royale

Burgle Bag/ Strongbox: These look like alternate back blings for the burglar skins, which are clearly getting a lot of love with this set of cosmetics. Both are pretty slick, but if I had to pick one I’d go with strong box. The burgle bag is a little less conspicuous, however.

Fortnite

And finally, we’ve got a suite of emotes, most notable of which is spinning basketball move to go along with the rest of the basketball stuff in this pack. Excited to see these in action, as it’s sort of hard to judge a dance by a still silouhette.
