'Some areas' - Hughton's verdict on five months in charge of Nottingham Forest

Boss Chris Hughton believes progress has been made during his five months in charge at Nottingham Forest.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion chief replaced Sabri Lamouchi at the helm of the Reds in October, picking up the reins after the Reds had lost their opening four league games.

His record at the City Ground stands at played 36, won 11, drawn 12 and lost 13 as he has looked to keep Forest away from relegation danger.

Heading into their final eight matches of the campaign, they are 17th in the Championship table, seven points clear of the bottom three.

Hughton says he knew he had a “challenge” on his hands when he took the job, while restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic mean he has yet to walk out at a packed stadium on the banks of the Trent.

“The big difference between this job and any other job I’ve had is the covid circumstances,” he said on talkSPORT.

“I’m managing a team where I’ve been to the stadium on numerous occasions as a player and an opposition manager, but haven’t experienced yet the City Ground crowd.

“That’s the strange bit.

“I came into a club in our covid times, so haven’t experienced the best parts of the game and the interaction with supporters.

“But I’m enjoying it.

“It was a challenge when I came in, which I knew.

“I think we have made progress - probably there are some areas that have stopped us being in a higher position and getting more wins than we perhaps need to get.

“But I’m really enjoying being back in (the game).”
