Sombrero on Sierra Tequila bottles has 'game-changing' use that's blowing people's minds

When it comes to the internet, every day is an opportunity to learn something quirky and new.

Recently, thanks to social media we've been taught a new way to put on fiddly bracelets by ourselves, hang up the phone without seeming rude and stop the kids from hearing 'noises in the night' (yes, we're talking about sex).

Another interesting tidbit that's been doing the rounds online has to do with bottles of Sierra Tequila, or more specifically the little sombrero that sits on top of them.

It turns out a number of tequila fans didn't actually know about the real use for the sombrero and have simply been binning it after opening the bottle, or using it as a cute little party hat for their cat.

But apparently, the sombrero has several handy uses, including being a lime squeezer and the ideal item to measure out the right amount of tequila for a shot.

But most interesting of all its purposes is that the rim of the sombrero can also be used neatly to salt your glass.

Yes, really!

This "game-changing" fact was shared on Twitter by Jack Mull last year and has recently resurfaced once more.

He wrote: "I was today years old when I realised the sombrero on the top of the bottle of tequila was so you could salt your glass."

The post garnered more than 1,000 likes and hundreds of retweets and replies.

Jack later added: "Don't even lie, you know you all thought it was just a cute little sombrero for your bottle.

"Game changer, blew my mind."

And he wasn't the only one whose mind was blown.

Someone else said: "You have changed everything."

Another commented: "WHATTTTT NO THIS CHANGES THE ENTIRE GAME."

"I'm shook," responded someone else.

A fourth proclaimed: "I thought it was just a cute sombrero to put on your pet rat or something."

"I had no idea," added a different user.
