Solway Sk8ing Club’s three teams had a champion time at the at the Trophy d’Ecosse synchronized skating competition hosted by Dumfries Ice Bowl before Christmas.
Thirty-one teams from all over the UK competed over three show-stopping days.
On the first day, Solway Lightning skated in the juvenile category to music from Disney film Lilo and Stitch. The team received amazing home crowd support and their fun and upbeat programme left everyone thoroughly amazed. They finished with a final score of 30.69 earning the bronze medal and the title of Juvenile Scottish Champions.
Solway Stars also competed their short programme one day one, showcasing their Elvis inspired routine. The technically complex routine wowed the crowd and they finished their first day of competition earning not only a personal best but also the highest British short programme score with 50.33, sending them into day two in first place.
The first Solway team to take to the ice on day two was Solway Eclipse in the mixed age category with a routine all about women’s empowerment. The sassy and fun routine was fabulously executed by the skaters and they ended their competition scoring 48.59 giving them the silver medal and the Scottish Mixed Age Champions title.
Solway Stars then skated their free programme to music from the Twilight soundtrack. The elegant and fun routine scored them 85.06 points, taking their total score 135.39 giving them the gold medal in the ISU Junior category and also making them Scottish Junior Champions.
