Lifeboat crews from around the Solway gathered for Kippford RNLI’s open day.

Teams from Workington, Silloth and Kirkcudbright were joined by two boats from Nith Inshore Rescue and the private lifeboat from Maryport

There were also representatives from Kirkcudbright and Portling Coastguard teams and senior coastal operations manager Stewart Bryden was in attendance.

A couple of hundred people lined the sea front to see the boats before enjoying tea and cakes provided by the Kippford Lifeboat crew’s fundraising team.

There was also a stand dedicated to promote the RNLI’s Respect the Water safety campaign.

Kippford Lifeboat operations manager Gareth Jones said: “It was a great success and we have to thank all the other teams for coming because that was what made it a successful day.”

Some of the crews had time for a cuppa and sandwich. (Bobby Geddes)
