Solskjaer sets Manchester United challenge ahead of packed festive fixture schedule

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged Manchester United to have an improved run of results over the busy Christmas fixture period.

United travel to face Watford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon before facing Newcastle on Boxing Day and travelling to take on Burnley just two days later.

Solskjaer's side then travel to face Arsenal on New Year's Day before another hectic seven day period which will see them face Wolves, Man City and Norwich.

The season can often be defined by a club's results over the festive period and Solskjaer knows United must find form now if they are to achieve their targets for the season.

“It’s been a great year," Solskjaer told the United App.

"It’s been an eventful year of course and for me and my family it’s been a proud year. Now I hope we can start seeing the improvement in results over this festive period.

“It’s great and I feel the squad is ready for that. I think physically we’re ready for it and mentally we’re in a good moment because we’re getting some decent results. And we’re getting players coming back so we’re getting more and more competition for places.

"That’s why we’ve been rotating early on and giving players minutes. When you have two games on Boxing Day and two days later you can make changes. We have Watford before that so we’ve got three games in six days so that’s quite demanding but we’re in a good position.”
