Solskjaer sets Harry Maguire challenge ahead of new Manchester United season

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is demanding more goals from Harry Maguire at Manchester United ahead of the new season.

Maguire has found the net five times in 107 competitive appearances during his two full campaigns at the club, but should arguably have more to his name given his threat in the air.

The England international scored a memorable goal for his country in the summer when he headed home against Ukraine in the European Championship and he linked up with teammate Luke Shaw once again to find the back of the net against Everton on Saturday.

Maguire headed in from a corner to score United's second of four goals in a friendly win over Rafa Benitez's side at Old Trafford and Solskjaer hopes it is a sign of things to come.

United know a successful title bid will hinge on getting goals from all areas of the pitch and he has challenged club captain Maguire to add more to his game.

"We've not had a lot of time with Harry since he came back," Solskjaer told reporters after the Everton win. "But this summer with Luke practising set plays with England has helped us.

"Good delivery, good header, Harry knows we want more from him with the goal tally, too many times the ball flies over the bar, he looked very good today."
