Solskjaer's impressive stats vs Klopp and Pochettino after one year in charge at Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a better win rate in his first year in charge of Manchester United than Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino did in their first years at Liverpool and Tottenham, respectively.

Solskjaer returned to United as caretaker manager in December 2018 following the sacking of Jose Mourinho and soon led the team on a resurgence which resulted in an historic comeback victory against PSG in the Champions League.

Solskjaer was given the job on a permanent basis on the back of United's improved performances and his truth in youth, but it hasn't gone quite as well since.

United have been largely inconsistent during his permanent tenure, often following up impressive victories with dull and drab performances.

However, it does seem like United are heading in the right direction as a clear style of play is being developed and his signings in the summer transfer market have so far been a success.

It takes time to build a team and Solskjaer's record shows that he's actually had a better first year than two of the world's most highly regarded managers.

Solskjaer has won 29 games in his first year in charge with 12 draws and 14 defeats at a win rate of 52.7 per cent.

In Klopp's first year at Liverpool he managed a win rate of 49.2 per cent, the exact same as Pochettino's debut year at Spurs.

Both managers ended up creating brilliant teams at their clubs following their first year with Liverpool eventually winning the Champions League and likely the Premier League for the first time.

Pochettino may have been sacked this year but he did transform Spurs into an established top four side and got them to their first ever Champions League final.

Solskjaer's first year could suggest that greatness is on the horizon for United, too.
