Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted youngsters Amad and Shola Shoretire are in Manchester United's squad for tonight's game against Real Sociedad on merit.
The United boss has included the two teenage wingers in the group for the Europa League last 32 first leg, which will take place in Turin this evening (5.55pm kick off UK time).
And he has hinted that they may well be involved, as United try to develop young players in the European competition between now and the end of the season.
Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek have not travelled with United, while Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay may also miss out through injury.
Solskjaer spoke to United's in-house media about Amad and Shoretire and believes both players can make an impact if called upon tonight.
“Yeah they’re in the travelling squad," said the Norwegian. "Not just for experience, they’re there to make an impact if they have to. The two boys have done well in training and they are talents that we want to give experience to. First of all they’re travelling and then let’s see if they come on the pitch.
Solskjaer did accept it was a good experience for Amad and Shoretire, 18 and 17 respectively, to be in and around the first team, but he believes they could well be involved in a match soon.
He added: "It’s one of the things we do with our youngsters. They come in and they travel, step-by-step, layer-by-layer and suddenly they’re on the pitch.
"That’s the thing – we do have a plan and a programme in place that we try to stick to.
Obviously when there are injuries or absentees or illness then maybe they’ll get the chance before we expected, but the two of them have done well."
