Solskjaer has told Fred to work on three things at Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Fred has revealed the advice that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is giving him, as he looks to kick on following a difficult start to his career at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian registered one of his better displays in United colours in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool last Sunday and looks set to start against Norwich this weekend.

After arriving for £52million in the summer of 2018, it's been a tough time for Fred at United. But he's been urged by Solskjaer to keep it simple, though still play with the freedom afforded by Solskjaer's new 3-4-1-2 formation, as he revealed.

Fred's burgeoning partnership with Scott McTominay will be key for United in the ongoing absence of Paul Pogba due to an ankle injury.

"Passing is one of my main objectives in the game and when I make a lot of passes I’m happy,” the Brazilian told United's official website.

"Obviously I’m not happy when I miss the passes so I look to get that right. I work very hard on that.

"I’m really happy for both Scott and myself, we’ve worked hard together on this in midfield and I hope we can continue this run of form and have more good games and work very hard to help United."

Fred added that Solskjaer's new system suits his attacking instincts, with the Brazilian having struggled when playing at the base of a 4-2-3-1 this season.

"As I said we did really well tactically on Sunday which was very important," he added.

"For me I was quite relaxed. With five playing behind me it freed me up to play the way I like to play going forward a bit more.

"I was also really happy with the way I defended. The manager told me to focus, to play well, to minimise the errors and I think I did that well and defended well.”
