Solskjaer gives Cavani and Paul Pogba injury update ahead of Crystal Palace vs Man United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that Edinson Cavani is back in training ahead of the club's clash against Crystal Palace on Wednesday - but Paul Pogba will not be making the trip to South London.

United lie second in the Premier League table, and are on a run of 20 games unbeaten on the road following their 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Solskjaer's team have now had two 0-0 draws on the bounce following the second leg of their Europa League tie against Real Sociedad - though they sealed their progress thanks to a 4-0 win in the away leg.

And it looks like they could welcome Cavani back into the squad after the Uruguayan striker missed the last four games for United.

"Edi has trained this morning and hopefully there is no reaction," Solskjaer told reporters.

"There are another couple of knocks that we have to look at, from after the [Chelsea] game, and from the season’s wear and tear.

"We’ve had a light training session and we’re looking ok. A couple of doubts for tomorrow, Edinson trained which is good. Let’s hope there’s no reaction and hopefully he’ll travel with the squad."

However, Solskjaer has admitted that he will be without Phil Jones and Paul Pogba for the match against Roy Hodgson's side.

"With Phil, he’s working really hard, he’s had a couple of setbacks and it’s the kind of injury where you have to be patient," Solskjaer added.

"I know all about knee injuries, so I’m not sure... how long is a piece of rope? We’ll give him as much time as we can.

"Paul is not ready for us, no. Feeling better but he has not been training with the team yet, so he’s definitely not travelling down to London."
