Solomon Commercials creates 50 new jobs after years of growth and contract wins

One of the UK's leading manufacturer of rigid refrigerated vehicles has announced it will create 50 new jobs after years of growth and contract wins.

Solomon Commercials said it is in a "fantastic position" to expand the workforce and the new roles will join its current 350-strong headcount.

The Lancashire-based firm said the boost in job numbers has been prompted by a series of contract wins for high-profile retailers and increased demand for vehicles needed for businesses that have expanded home delivery services.

Sales director Anthony Clegg said: “Over the past two years we have been planning for, and achieving sustainable growth and combined with several contract wins complemented by repeat business, we’re in a fantastic position to expand our workforce.

“Demand for our quality vehicles remains high because we’re driven by a partnership approach with our clients, which is underpinned by our commitment to innovation. In addition, we’re investing in the business, and we now need more people to join us.”

The firm was established in 1976, and designs and manufactures refrigerated vehicles working with independent businesses, public companies, dot-com enterprises and retailers.

The business produces approximately 3,500 vehicles a year from its seven operating departments in Rossendale, Darwen and Bacup, which equates to 240,000 sq ft of production facilities.
