It is believed the Edinburgh squaddie was abducted and held hostage on Saturday night after he left Dreghorn Barracks in Colinton for a Tinder date.
The incident sparked a huge security scare and is understood to have triggered an emergency protocol with top brass informed.
An army spokesperson confirmed an 18-year-old was taken to hospital after the horrendous ordeal, Edinburgh Live reports.
A meeting at the army base on Monday was held to inform fellow servicemen and women of the attack, a source close to Dreghorn Barracks said.
It is understood that the teenager left the digs on Saturday night after 'arranging a Tinder date' with a woman at a property in Edinburgh.
