'Soldado 2.0' - The Tottenham fans unimpressed with who could cover for Harry Kane's injury

Harry Kane has been sidelined with a hamstring tear which could force Tottenham Hotspur to make a move in the January transfer window to find a worthy replacement.

Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer has emerged as a potential contender to fill the gap up front for Jose Mourinho's side while the Englishman recovers.

The Spaniard has scored 23 goals in 37 games in the Bundesliga following his move from Barcelona in 2018.

He has added a single assist to that tally during his time in Germany and is known as a penalty box player.

Alcacer is said to be keen to find a new challenge after Dortmund won the race to sign Norwegian wonderkid Erling Braut Haaland.

With the 26-year-old unsettled at the Bundesliga side, and Tottenham in need of a proven goal scorer to cover for Kane, a solution could be at hand for all parties.

Not every Spurs fan is convinced of the idea, however. Some have raised concerns over the Spaniard's injury record.

Others believe his rather more limited range of abilities is too close to Roberto Soldado in style to be a success in England.

Supporters on Twitter made their feelings known over the prospect of signing Alcacer in January.

Troy Parrott is another option for Spurs if Mourinho is willing to trust the academy striker.

Son Heung-min could be deployed up front in Kane's absence upon his return from suspension for a red card against Chelsea.

Lucas Moura can also play in a variety of attacking roles while Giovani Lo Celso has been deployed as a forward in the past for Real Betis.

Parrott has played five minutes of Premier League football this season after making his debut in the Carabao Cup in September 2019.

The 17-year-old came on against Colchester United two months prior to Tottenham's decision to dismiss Mauricio Pochettino as head coach.
