Solar eclipse: Everything you need to know about as partial eclipse set to grace Dublin skies next week

A partial solar eclipse will grace Dublin skies next week where the Moon will cover close to 15% of the Sun.

It will not get darker during this rare event, but will be a spectacular sight to see nonetheless. However, people are being used to use the appropriate instruments to watch the partial solar eclipse and not to look at the sun directly.

Looking at the sun with the naked eye (even when a part of it is blocked) can cause serious damage to the eyes.

The sun is meant to look like it has literally had a bite taken out of it with observers in western Siberia, Russia getting the best view of the eclipse.

Dubliners will still get to witness the cool event. Here the partial solar eclipse will begin on Tuesday, 25 October at 10:06am and ends at 11:40am the same day. It will be at its maximum at 10:52am.

You can buy eclipse glasses online, however there are some other easier ways to watch the eclipse. It is possible to create a a pinhole projector, made simply by poking a hole in a piece of card.
