Sol Campbell has put his name down to replace Freddie Ljungberg as assistant coach to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
Ljungberg has walked away from his role at the Emirates Stadium as he looks to pursue management opportunities.
And Campbell, who has already wet his feet in first-team management, has put his name forward to replace his former teammate as Gunners assistant.
Speaking on a Marvel YouTube feature, he was asked by Robert Pires if he was interested in the job.
"Yeah, I would," he quickly replied. "If something came up I would.
"I would love to. Put my name forward and I will be there."
Campbell has spent two years as a manager, first helping Macclesfield Town stay in League Two before taking charge of Southend United.
He left the Essex club after they suffered relegation when the season was curtailed and the final places were calculated on points-per-game.
Ljungberg announced his Arsenal departure late last month, saying: "I have decided to leave my first team assistant coaching role at Arsenal to progress my management experience.
"I have been involved with this club on and off since 1998 and am grateful for all the opportunities they have given me both as a player and as a coach."
