'Sol Campbell 2.0!' - Arsenal fans in meltdown over reported Christian Eriksen transfer plan

Arsenal fans have taken to social media to react to rumours of a surprise January move for Christian Eriksen.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder left the Premier League just under a year ago as he completed a £16.9m transfer to Inter Milan - a good piece of business by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy as he was in the final few months of his contract.

However, Eriksen is still looking to force his way into Antonio Conte's starting XI having been a bit-part player since joining.

In fact, last month he spoke out regarding a lack of game time at his current club.

'Perfect 10' - The Dominik Szoboszlai verdict from Hungarian football expert

"I'm happy to come back every time because I play here and I’m happy. Of course, as everyone knows, many things have changed," he explained in the post-match press conference.

"I don't play as much as I did at Tottenham, but nothing has changed.

"I'm excited when I come to national team, no matter which club I play in."

Those comments were made during the October international break after Eriksen scored the only goal of the UEFA Nations clash for Denmark against England at Wembley Stadium.

Since then, Eriksen has started two Serie A games and been a substitute in another.

And ahead of the January transfer window, there is talk of the midfielder returning to north London - but to join Arsenal.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Gunners have proposed to Inter Milan a swap deal that would include Eriksen and Granit Xhaka.

As expected, this rumour has garnered a massive response from Arsenal fans on Twitter...

@BaloGunnerMan said: "Xhaka going is great, but getting a player who was least interested to play and wanted out of the team ain’t good either."

@BigBruhDatBruhs said: "Eriksen, Willian, all washed up players. Next what? Pato?"

@Iamgoonerbrian said: "Eriksen is finished. Let him stay at Inter. We can keep our Xhaka.
