Software business with customers in Brazil, India and Australia honoured by the Queen

A North West software business whose customers span as far and wide as Brazil, India and Australia has been honoured with two awards from Her Majesty the Queen.

Employees of DriveWorks travelled to Buckingham Palace last week where they received two Queen's Awards in Innovation and International Trade categories, for their work with customers overseas.

Vice President and co-founder Maria Sarkar travelled to London with colleagues including her partner Glen Smith and son Mark Sarkar who work for DriveWorks Ltd, which provides digital innovation for marketing companies.

The firm is based in Thelwall, Warrington , and the representatives met HRH the Prince of Wales at a palace reception on June 11.

Ms Sarker said: “To be invited to a Royal reception is fantastic, it’ll definitely put Warrington on the map and raise our profile internationally. Our customers in countries including Brazil, India and Australia are very excited for us.”

She added, “We told His Royal Highness about our work overseas and he seemed impressed.”

DriveWorks was one of 201 Queen's Award winners from across the UK invited to the palace.

It configures and automates the creation of custom manufacturing drawings and 3D models, and the awards are run by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Small Business Minister Kelly Tolhurst said: " The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise acknowledge outstanding achievement in British business and I was delighted to see the winners recognised by The Prince of Wales.

“The event shone a light on the incredible work of businesses across the country and I was impressed to see the wealth of talent and innovation represented at Buckingham Palace.

"It is a fitting honour for the sheer hard work and determination it takes to start and run a successful business. Our modern Industrial Strategy champions businesses across the country – and a prestigious Queen’s Award will be the envy of many them.”
