Sofia Richie has commented on her 15-year age gap with entrepreneur and reality television star Scott Disick, saying criticism over their relationship “doesn’t bother” her.
In a new interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, the model and fashion designer spoke about her career plans for 2020, which include expanding her fashion line and embarking on a budding acting career.
During the interview, the 21-year-old also touched upon her two-year relationship with 36-year-old Disick, who has three children with his former partner Kourtney Kardashian.
When asked about the criticism she and Disick have received since news of their partnership emerged, Richie explained that it’s water off a duck’s back, saying she has “this weird thing where I just don’t care what people think”.
Richie added that judgemental commentary “doesn’t bother me because I’m very happy”.
According to Cosmopolitan, the daughter of Lionel Richie and Diane Alexander thinks the 15-year age difference between her and Disick is “great”.
The model drew parallels between her relationship and that of her parents, who were married from 1995 to 2004 and have a 18-year age gap.
Last year, Oscar nominee Florence Pugh publicly defended her relationship with Scrubs star Zach Braff, their ages being 24 and 44 respectively.
The Little Women actor responded to a remark made by an Instagram user, who posted a comment remarking upon Braff’s age in comparison to hers.
“And yet he got it,” Pugh replied, alongside the “OK hand” emoji.
In December, Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend, 22-year-old model and actor Camila Morrone, spoke out in defence of her relationship with the 45-year-old Academy Award winner.
“There’s so many relationships in Hollywood – and in the history of the world – where people have large age gaps,” Morrone told the Los Angeles Times.
“I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”
