SoFi Stadium is 97% done, Oculus is officially complete

Whenever fans are allowed inside SoFi Stadium, their eyes will immediately go to the massive halo hanging above the field. That colossal ring is called the “Oculus” and it’s a one-of-a-kind video board that displays 4K video on both sides.

It spans 120 yards, weighs 2.2 million pounds and covers 70,000 square-feet as it’s suspended from the roof at SoFi Stadium. And as of Wednesday, the Oculus is officially complete.

The Rams shared the good news on Twitter, marking the latest step in the construction process ahead of the 2020 season.

The timelapse video below shows the video board being raised to its peak.

Additionally, SoFi Stadium shared a behind-the-scenes look at the Oculus, while simultaneously announcing that the stadium as a whole is 97% finished.

That said, there’s no doubt it’ll be ready for Aug. 14 when the Rams take on the Saints in what’s the first scheduled event at SoFi.

While the finishing touches are being put on the stadium inside, the exterior and surrounding area still have work to be done. The lake is being filled and the parking lots are being paved, while Hollywood park will remain under construction – including the building of NFL Media’s headquarters and other shopping and dining locations.
